The Village of Elmwood Park is located in the county of Racine in the state of Wisconsin. Elmwood Park was incorporated as a village on June 27, 1960 following a court battle. Until this time Elmwood had been part of the Town of Mount Pleasant. Becoming a village was not an easy task; it was met with some opposition. A new state law adopted after the incorporation proceedings had started required villages near cities the size of Racine to be 25 times larger than Elmwood. Elmwood Park is the last small village in the state to incorporate. Elmwood Park became the new name of the village as there was already a village of Elmwood in northwest Wisconsin.
Philosophy of Elmwood Park
Our goal is to preserve the open park-like setting of our village and to maintain its natural atmosphere.
