Village Trustee Open Seat
The Elmwood Park Village Board is seeking a Village resident to fill a vacant Village trustee seat with a term expiring in April 2025.
Responsibilities: The Village Board appoints the Village Administrator, Clerk/Treasurer, confirms presidential appointments, manages Village affairs including property, finances, and public services, and ensures public welfare. Trustees and the President set policy, approve budgets and payments, enact laws, enter contracts, grant licenses, and levy taxes.
Commitment: Trustees attend monthly Village Board meetings. They may also choose to attend various community events as representatives of the Village.
Process: It has been determined that the vacant seat will filled by appointment of the Village Board. Interested residents should contact our Village Administrator, Lateria Shaw, before 3 pm August 8th to seek nomination. Interested candidates need to fill out this Trustee Appointment Application, and also return it to Lateria Shaw by August 8th. Candidates will be considered at the Village Board meeting on August 15th, 2024. Candidates are strongly encouraged to attend the August 15th Board Meeting at 6:30pm so that board members can ask any follow up questions. Final selection will be made at the end of the board meeting in a closed session.
This is a nonpartisan position. Candidates must be a Village resident and eligible to vote in the Village to qualify.
